Is natuurlijk complete flauwekul om 105 van die motorblokken te sparen. Na verloop van tijd is alles verroest en gaat van binnen alles vaszitten. ALs die blokken nu van goud waren. De kans dat er iemand een blokje nodig heeft, wordt alleen maar kleiner, gezien het dalend aantal auto's waar ze in passen. M.i. totaal zinloos. Is toch veel leuker om die dingen aan de nu nog bestaande R4 en R5 bezitters te verkopen?

Hello!Sorry to write in english... I would like to know if its possible to put a 1108 c.c. gordini head with horizontal webers on the r4 gtl bloc.
The power of the 1108 c.c. R8 Gordini is great.Imagine a renault 4 GTL Gordini!

what's called Gordini in England, is called alpine in the rest of europe. I think you mean the head of the R5 alpine engine? You would better fit the whole engine into your r4. It fits with little adaptations and there are many examples on my site, even alpine turbo's. Besides, I don't think the head will fit on your GTL engine.
If you want to know exactly how to transform your R4, you can better ask Folkert. Just put a message on this forum and he will contact you, I'm sure.

Sorry, I didn't read well, I see you are planning to put an R8 1108 gordini head on your GTL engine. I don't know wether it will fit, but I think you have a reasonable chance. Maybe you'd better fit the whole r8 engine into the R4, or as described above a R5 alpine or alpine turbo engine, however a normal R5 1400 cc can also cause a lot of fun.

Thanks for your reply.At this moment I´ve already exchanged the original carb (zenith 28 if ) for the one of the r5 gtl incl. manifold ( the r5 1108 cc has 50 hp with the same engine) and i felt it improved, it´s more smooth and feels stronger but it lacks the 50 hp of the r5...and after some research i´ve found that the engine of the r8 gordini 1108 its the same but with 60 or 95 hp, i know that the pistons are diferent and the head is crossflow but if i could adapt that head to my block it gave the possibility of having 2 horizontal webbers which along with the gordini camshaft adds a few extra torque and hp.By the way do you know what are the diferences between the r5 1108cc and the r4 1108cc?Besides the carb and manifold which I´ve changed, maybe ignition?or camshaft?Thanks again!Sorry for the long message but I would really like to talk to someone who knows this kind of tech details...

teh big difference between the R4 and R5 1108 cc engine is the camshaft. The R5 has a faster one. But again, isn't it smarter to just replace the whole engine, rather then to completely change the original. I don't know if the pistons and cilinders are different, so that may also be a problem.

The problem with the engine swap is that I know how many km (165000km) and in which state my engine is...as for an engine that I can buy at the breakers you don´t have any ideia of the state of that engine.So the one that I have is in very good shape ( good compression rate in all cylinders,doesn´t burn oil...).Thats the main reason for me to want to keep my engine but I also like to work on the car so the swap is to easy solution!!It must be a challenge!!

well, I guess you got a good reason there. A challenge it is for sure, so I wish you good luck with this project, please let us know if you succeded and what problems you might have faced. I'm especcially curius about the R8 gordini head.

Heren,

Ook in het circuit buiten Holtrop doen deze blokken al gauw 500 Euro, dus als je ze voor weinig kunt kopen, niet aarzelen, maar direkt doen!!
Geen volgers, wel vrienden.
